Chris Webber Retires, Again

The Chris Webber legacy finally ends. Once a part of the high flying Michigan Wolverines Fab Five, CWebb is calling it quits. His career is now in the past tense.

He went to back-to-back NCAA Championships but lost each one. He went went as far as the 2002 Western Conference Finals with the Sacramento Kings; losing in a heart breaking Game 7. Then came the luck of being in one of the strongest Eastern Conference teams in 2007. Chris Webber reached the Eastern Conference Finals with the Detroit Pistons but lost his chance to get a title when the Pistons blew a 2-0 series lead.

The microfracture in his left knee robbed him and all of us the talent that could have been. As he went down, so did the King’s hope of seeing the NBA Finals. As with many franchise level players that didn’t get that elusive title ring, Chris Webber’s career shows how small that window of opportunity really is in the NBA.

Next stop for CWebb? Meet your new teammates: Kenny the Jet, Sir Charles, and Elevator Ernie on the TNT studio.
